At Curry in a Hurry New Generation, we are always looking for ways to bring a little more heart, heritage, and flavor to your plate. Our newest addition, the Peshwari Naan, is more than just a side of bread. It is a warm, buttery invitation into South Asian tradition, sweetened with coconut, raisins, and cashews.
A Bite of History
The Peshwari Naan traces its roots to the city of Peshawar in Pakistan, a place famous for its hospitality and rich culinary heritage. Traditionally baked in a tandoor, this naan was known as a royal delicacy served during celebrations and shared among families as a symbol of warmth and generosity. The combination of coconut, nuts, and dried fruit reflects the fusion of Indian and Afghan influences, resulting in a bread that is both comforting and decadent.
At Curry in a Hurry New Generation, we wanted to bring that same spirit to Minneapolis, honoring our Desi roots while offering a flavor that feels both familiar and new.
Our Twist on a Classic
Our Peshwari Naan is hand rolled, filled with freshly grated coconut, golden raisins, and chopped cashews, then baked in our tandoor until golden and soft. When it comes out, we brush it with melted butter, sealing in a warm sweetness that pairs beautifully with any of our curries, from Chicken Tikka Masala to Vegetable Korma.
This is not just naan. It is a taste of nostalgia, a blend of home style comfort and indulgence that melts in your mouth and leaves you craving just one more bite.
Why We Added It to Our Menu
Food is storytelling, and for us, this naan represents the story of home. It connects the sweetness of Bangladeshi hospitality with the authenticity of North Indian cooking, something we have always tried to reflect in every dish we serve.
When we reopened as Curry in a Hurry New Generation, we promised to bring something meaningful to our community. Food that makes you smile, remember, and return. The Peshwari Naan is exactly that, a bridge between tradition and today.
Come Taste the Warmth
Stop by our restaurant on East Franklin in Minneapolis and try the new Peshwari Naan fresh out of the tandoor. Whether you dip it into curry, enjoy it with chai, or savor it as a dessert bread, we promise it will feel like a hug in every bite.
